Within the first few minutes I attract my students with a big smile and he utmost of friendliness. I introduce myself get them to talk about themselves and assure them that there’s no need to feel nervous or anxious, much less to be fearful of learning a second language. I set out some guidelines although it’s my personal opinion that being hard on a student is a con, definitely not a plus and many of them have derived benefit from me having a tantamount of patience with them. Once they’ve shared their information, we take it very slowly with the lesson ensuring attention is given to each student and making sure that they understand we are all in this as a group, a group of friends / sisters, ready to help each other. I allow enough time for questions on the first day and by the end of the lesson they are totally comfortable and ready to learn, not because they’re forced to but because they have a desire. I can bear witness, and so can my manager, that numerous students have returned, over and over again to continue their journey of learning, because of my teaching approach I assign homework before leaving and make sure again that they understood what is required of them.
